After deciding which yoni egg crystal best suits you, you are now ready to buy your first yoni egg. Are you feeling a bit uncertain about which size to get? You are not alone; there is often confusion as to what size yoni egg you should start your practice with.
If you’re new to yoni or jade eggs, you might not know which yoni egg size to choose. It is important you choose the right size for you as it makes a difference to your comfort levels and your overall practice.
What’s in this article?
Yoni eggs mainly come in 3 sizes: Small, Medium, and Large. The table below shows you the typical measurements of the 3 common yoni egg sizes. Note: different manufacturers may offer slightly different sizes.
Size | Width x Length | Ideal for: |
Small (SM) | 25x35mm | Advanced and expert users. |
Medium (MD) | 30x43mm | Beginners and intermediate users. |
Large (LG) | 35x50mm | Beginners and women who have given birth vaginally. |
The egg size you need does not depend on your body size, but rather on the strength of your pelvic floor muscles. Weaker pelvic floor muscles generally need larger eggs until they are strong enough to manage a smaller egg.
Now that you know what the different sizes are, how do you choose the right size for you? Unlike a bra or swimsuit, one cannot try on a yoni egg for size. So how do you decide?
Does a small egg mean you have a small yoni and vice versa? Do you have to measure your yoni before buying? How, exactly, does this work? Don’t stress, choosing the right egg is easier than you think.
It is a common misconception that you should start with the smallest egg and work your way up. In fact, the opposite is true! Many beginners start with the large yoni egg and work their way down in size.
Large-size eggs are easier to feel and are easier for your muscles to grip. It is the best size to use if you have weak pelvic floor muscles, uterine prolapse or going through menopause. Keep in mind though that the large egg is heavier, making it difficult to keep in for long periods of time.
The medium-size egg works well for women of all sizes and ages. If you decide to start with the medium-size egg and you do not find it comfortable then you can always switch to the larger size. When you feel you are ready, go back to the medium-size egg. Listen to your body, it will tell you which egg is comfortable for you.
If you’re feeling pain or discomfort while inserting your yoni egg, it may be too large for you. A good way to gauge if you are using the right egg size is to use your fingers to measure your vaginal canal.
If you can fit one finger in snugly then use the small yoni egg. Two fingers will work for the medium-size egg. If you can comfortably fit in three fingers then the large egg should not cause you any discomfort.
Pro-Tip: Your egg must be small enough to fit inside your vagina without any discomfort. Yet it must be big enough to stay in place during any movement or yoni egg exercises.
Beginners, especially women who have not given birth vaginally, can start with a medium-size yoni egg. When you become more experienced in your practice you may move on to the small egg. This will take time and regular practice.
Contrary to what many people think, small eggs are not necessarily only for small or petite women. As you develop stronger vaginal muscles and more dexterity, you can begin to try out smaller egg sizes. Expert practitioners sometimes even use two small eggs at a time.
Do you want to gift a friend with a yoni egg but you are unsure about which size to select?
In this case, you have two options. Medium-size drilled yoni eggs are usually very popular with beginners. Alternatively, you can buy a set of three eggs – large, medium, and small sizes.
A good beginner set would be a Nephrite Jade yoni egg set or a Rose Quartz yoni egg set. The Amethyst gemstone is also popular amongst beginners. Sets give the user the option of experimenting with which egg suits them. It also gives the user the option of using yoni eggs of different sizes on different days.
Who says size doesn’t matter? When choosing which yoni egg to buy, always consider which is the best size for you. It is important that you choose the yoni egg that your yoni feels most comfortable with. Listen to your body and trust what it says.
