Should you be sleeping with a yoni egg? Yoni eggs, also known as love eggs or jade eggs refer to polished semi-precious gemstones that are specially crafted into an egg-shaped stone so it can be easily inserted into your vagina.

The popularity of yoni eggs surged in 2017 when Gwyneth Paltrow promoted its benefits on her website. However, the post has since been removed.

Why Should You Try The Yoni Egg Practice?

The use of a yoni egg is thought to provide the same benefits of healing crystals – bringing unique energetic and healing properties. It is thought to bring positive energy and sexual energy as the body harnesses the stone’s energy.

Since the egg must be “gripped” internally, yoni egg sellers also claim that it is beneficial for sexual health as it strengthens the pelvic floor muscles or vaginal muscles. The use of yoni eggs is also known as the jade egg practice.

Benefits of Sleeping With The Yoni Egg

Some practitioners have recommended that first timers start by wearing the yoni egg at night while sleeping on alternate nights for the first week.

It is said that sleeping with the yoni egg is a good way to ease into a routine of using it, claiming that yoni eggs, especially an obsidian egg, can “bring emotions stored in the tissue to the surface” to help deal with the subconscious.

Arguments Against Sleeping With The Yoni Egg

Some health professionals have warned about the health risks for yoni egg users such as:

  • The pelvic floor muscles are not meant to contract continuously. Therefore, wearing the egg for long durations and activities such as walking requires the woman to clench the muscles to keep the egg inside for a prolonged time may not be recommended. It is likened to walking around all day holding a barbell
  • Kegel exercises that are done incorrectly can result in pelvic pain and pain during sex.

Some practitioners also think that sleeping while wearing the yoni egg can stretch and squash the delicate tissues in the vagina due to the weight of the egg that presses onto it for hours.

While most healthcare professionals would not agree for you to sleep with yoni eggs, they would not object to you sleeping with yoni eggs under your pillow. Yoni egg practitioners believe that it helps the egg and practitioner “bond” while also providing the energy unique to each type of stone.
