How Long Should You Leave a Yoni Egg In?

After spending some time researching about the jade egg or yoni egg practice, you should have an idea of the type of yoni egg you want to acquire. It can be made from various gemstones such as jade, rose quartz, nephrite jade, obsidian, and more. 

You should be choosing the type of gemstones and different sizes of yoni egg based on your needs, desires, and the healing properties of the stone.

Once you have acquired your yoni egg, take the necessary steps to clean it physically, get rid of any negative energy that may be present, recharge, and bond with it. You are now ready to begin your yoni egg practice. 

Beginning Your Yoni Egg Practice

Many beginners to the yoni egg practice often question how they should start practicing wearing the yoni egg. For first timers, remember to use lube before insertion. 

If there is a drilled hole, attach a string such as unwaxed dental floss or cotton string to the hole. 

The recommended duration of wearing your yoni egg for the first time would be 15 to 30 minutes. It depends on how comfortable you are with wearing the yoni egg. 

If you are only able to wear it for a few minutes, listen to your yoni and don’t force yourself to wear it longer. You can always gradually increase your practice time. Listen to how your sacred space responds to the yoni egg.

If you feel comfortable with wearing the yoni egg, you can leave it in for about an hour or more but try to avoid leaving it in for more than 6 hours as it can cause your pelvic floor muscles or vaginal muscles to tire. 

Leaving it in for too long may overwork your pelvic floor muscles and result in soreness and pain the next day. 

Basic Things to Try

If you are eager to try out the yoni egg, you can also perform some Kegel exercises during your first time while laying down. 

You can then proceed to trying to stand up and walk around the house to grasp the feeling of having the egg in your yoni. 

When you stand up, the gravity and weight of the yoni egg acts like a vaginal weight and pulls downwards. This makes it more challenging for you to keep it inside. 

Establishing A Routine

Like any other exercise, establish a regular routine for your yoni egg practice. Beginners should practice yoni egg exercises using the yoni egg for shorter durations, about 15 to 30 minutes 3 to 4 times a week.

This allows your pelvic floor muscles to rest, repair, and strengthen. You can then gradually increase the duration you wear your egg, but always remember to allow your yoni to rest. 

If you are using your yoni egg for spiritual purposes, you can use your yoni egg for meditation anytime you desire.

Some experienced yoni egg practitioners even sleep with their yoni egg as they find it relaxing and help with their sexual energy, bringing emotions to the surface, reduce mood swings, and create vivid dreams. 

After wearing your yoni egg for the first time, you may experience mild pain or soreness as your yoni muscles are being engaged more than usual. When this happens, allow your yoni to rest until the discomfort subsides.
